Men's Hoops Drops Final Game of 13-Day Road Trip

TEMPE, Az., - FGCU concluded its 13-day road trip with a 91-59 loss to Arizona State. The Eagles fell to 2-5 on the year while ASU improves to 4-1 with its fourth straight win.

ASU shot a blistering 13-of-17 (.765) to open up a 37-8 lead. The Sun Devils continued to add to their lead, going up 45-8. ASU went 8-for-12 from downtown and forced 12 FGCU turnovers while holding the Eagles to .286 from the floor. The bright spot for FGCU was the shooting of Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) who was 4-for-6 from downtown and scored 13 in the first half. ASU took a commanding 54-26 lead into the break. For the half, ASU was 19-of-32 (.594) from the floor including 9-of-15 (.600) from beyond the arc.

The intermission did not cool off ASU as the Sun Devils went on an 11-4 run to open up the second half and continued to add to the lead. Rob Quaintance (Glendale, Az.) went 4-for-5 from outside in the second half including a four point play.

James Harden led all players with 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go with six assists. Ty Abbott and Christian Polk added 15 points apiece and Jeff Pendergraph added 10 points for the hosts. ASU shot .524 from the floor and drilled 14 three’s on the night. T

hree Eagles reached double figures in scoring including a career-high 16 for Arizona native Rob Quaintance. Casey Wohlleb added 17 while Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) added 11 for the Eagles. FGCU canned a season-high 13 three-pointers on the evening, shooting .464 from beyond the arc.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Florida International.
