Men's Basketball Adds Game at DePaul
Thursday, October 11, 2007

FORT MYERS, Fla., - FGCU men’s basketball head coach Dave Balza announced that FGCU has added a game at DePaul on January 21.

“This will be another tough game on our challanging schedule,” stated Balza. “DePaul is a great program with a great tradition.”

The Blue Demons, 20-14 a year ago, advanced to the NIT quarterfinals last season. With the addition of DePaul to the schedule, the Eagles will now face nine teams that advanced to NCAA postseason play during the 2006-07 season. The Eagles will get a return visit from the Demons of the BIG EAST Conference during the 2009-10 season.

“We are excited to bring a team from the BIG EAST conference to Alico Arena,” said Balza. “In our first two years in Division I, we will have brought in a number of high profile teams to the Southwest Florida community. These are the type of games our players look forward to and it will be great for basketball in the area to host someone with the tradition of DePaul.”

FGCU will host ‘Tip-Off Madness’ tomorrow night at approximately 9:00 pm in Alico Arena. Season tickets for the 2007-08 season are currently available. Please call 590-7145 or visit www.fgcuathletics.com/tickets/home/ for more information.
