FGCU Basketball To Host Tip-Off Madness

FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU basketball fans can help raise the curtain for another season by joining the Tip-Off Madness celebration at Alico Arena, Friday, Oct. 12. Tip-Off Madness will begin approximately 30 minutes after the FGCU vs. USC-Upstate volleyball match. Admission is free.

The public will get an opportunity to meet the 2007-08 FGCU men's and women's basketball teams and will be entertained by a three-point contest, a slam dunk contest and team scrimmages. Among the contests planned for the students is an opportunity to shoot for 32” LCD TV or LCD Notebook Computer, both valued at over $500.

FGCU’s men's team, led by sixth-year head coach Dave Balza, is coming off a 27-6 season. The Eagles return four starters and eight letter-winners including seven seniors.

FGCU’s women’s team, led by sixth-year coach Karl Smesko, is coming off a 34-1 season, in which they finished the regular season undefeated and ranked number one in the nation. The team won the South Region championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship game. Smesko welcomes back two starters and six letter-winners including four seniors.
