Atlantic Sun and CSS Renew Television Package
Macon, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference and Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) renewed their popular CSS A-Sun Game of the Week television package, marking the sixth consecutive year of A-Sun men’s basketball being featured in primetime on Friday nights. Included in the package is the return of This Week in the A-Sun, the league’s 30-minute magazine show which will proceed each Friday night game at 7:00pm eastern, hosted by Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith.
“The CSS Game of the Week has become a well-established showcase for A-Sun basketball,” said A-Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart. “We have an excellent relationship with our colleagues at CSS and are proud to work with them as our primary TV partner. We look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing competitive and exciting college basketball games to the fans throughout the Southeast.”
All 12 member schools will be featured at least once during the eight-week programming schedule, including first-time appearances by the league’s newest additions: Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate. Both schools’ appearance will come against Stetson. The Eagles will host the Hatters to tip off the Friday Night Game of the Week package on January 11, while the Spartans travel to DeLand, Fla., on February 8. Other highlights of the schedule include both “Battle of the Boulevard” matchups between Belmont and Lipscomb. The Bisons will host the Bruins on January 12 in the lone Saturday game included in the CSS the package. Belmont hosts the rematch on February 22.
The package includes several other battles for city and state bragging rights. On January 18, the conference’s two North Carolina schools, Campbell and Gardner-Webb, meet in Buies Creek, N.C. Four weeks later, on February 15, the River City Rumble will be highlighted when Jacksonville hosts UNF. The eight-week CSS schedule concludes with an all-Georgia showdown as Mercer hosts Kennesaw State on “Leap Day”, February 29. CSS will provide exclusive early round coverage of the 2008 General Shale Brick A-Sun Championship including both semifinal contests on March 7.
“CSS is proud to continue its partnership with the Atlantic Sun Conference with our sixth season of providing college basketball fans the Friday night A-Sun Game of the Week.” said CSS GM Mark Fuhrman.
